ok guys im back with more troubleshoot problems,

well ive d/led and installed mednafen from the bodega repo, tested it, everything works, sound, video, etc, im just stuck on trying to connect the joypad

ive edited the text file and tried most of these fixes show here

http://www.yellowdog-board.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4710

i just dont know what to do, to try to connect my ps3 controller, guys please shoot me in the right direction

also is there a better way to make a shortcut, so i dont have to keep on using the terminal, typing scripts to turn on the emu?

thanks everyone for all the support

I'm not sure if you're saying your problem is trying to get the Sixaxis working in general, regardless of what emulator you're using, or just in mednafen.

For mednafen, you might try using zerojay's mednafen config file from his zerogame project:

http://svn.zerojay.com/zerogame/trunk/c ... dnafen.cfg

This would backup your current mednafen.cfg file and grab the mednafen.cfg from his site...

Open a terminal window under your regular user account and:

Code: Select all
cd ~/.mednafen

Code: Select all
mv mednafen.cfg mednafen.bak

Code: Select all
wget http://svn.zerojay.com/zerogame/trunk/configs/mednafen/mednafen.cfg

It should already be configured for the Sixaxis.

For a frontend (so you don't launch from terminal) you may want to try mfe (yum install mfe).

well my problem initially was connecting the ps3 controller through bluetooth, ive done the test with the Js0 and when i push the buttons on the DS3 i see gibberish, which you mentioned was good, ive also got my controller working for snes9x, but i think configuration is different for each emulator.

also, am i better off just installing the frontend?, if i want like a shortcut for easier use, instead of just using the terminal everytime?

*edit* ive tried all those scripts above posted, and only the thing it did was make the GBA screen smaller, with a black border around it all? any ideas why the config wont let me use my DS3?

Bill, my config assumes you're using the scaler, so that's why he's having his black border issue.

I'll have to check this out on my system -- I actually haven't played with mednafen for a while. That mfe frontend for mednafen is very simple and doesn't allow for configuring the controls within it -- it's mostly just for game launching.

In the meantime you can check out the online documentation for mednafen:

http://mednafen.sourceforge.net/documentation/

It's one of the more complicated emulators to set up (vs. xe or snes9x-gtk, for example) since it supports so many different systems.

Looks like it has been moved -- use this instead:

Code: Select all
wget http://svn.thezerogameproject.com/zerogame/trunk/configs/mednafen/mednafen.cfg
